Are you that “someone” who has all the best intentions in the world… and then you  immediately “swing into action” without much planning?

After a couple of weeks, those  best intentions begin to slide. “Life”  get’s in the way.  Before you know it, the old ways creep back?

Or you didn’t even bother in the first place? After all, it’s never worked before so why should it work now?

Have you ever wondered why this happens?

Old patterns, giving in to other’s “needs and wants”, are often easier than intentionally putting yourself first, aren’t they?

Tell me about those goals.  Was it all a bit ambitious?  Maybe you were wanting change because it seemed the right thing to do? Were they something that was congruent with you are and what you want to achieve in life?

For most of us, we look at goals s being outside in, when really  the real change has to come from within. Doesn’t it?

Many of my clients are very good at putting their own needs last. After all, it’s easier.

It’s what we’ve been taught to do.

Sort out everything and everyone else and when that’s all done, get back to what you want to do for “you”.

You’re not that important, you’ll get to it later.

And that’s how we slide back down that slippery river bank of  “it doesn’t really matter.”

I’m not much into goals for goals sake.

I do focus on how I want to feel though.

Once I’ve worked how I want to feel after I’ve achieved something, then it becomes simpler and easier to take those steps needed for change.

Imagine instead that goals are like  flat stepping stones on a river bed.  One skip and a jump leads to another and then before you know it, you are on the other side.  The process was fun, exciting even, as you worked out how to jump from one stone to another.

Once we understand what that feeling is that is pulling us forward, we can step into that feeling today.

We don’t have to wait.

How do we start?

We start with a dream.

Dreaming reunites us with wanted “feelings”.

When we create those dreams complete with all those good feelings and understanding why and how that goal is important to us , the ripple of “what” occurs next, can be magical.

So, how do you find out what you really want to create?

Ask yourself the question “why”?

Why do you want to do that. Complete that. Achieve that.  Then ask yourself again and again the question “why”… until your answer becomes crystal clear.

And then as it all becomes clearer, you will begin to see the steps you need to take.

Other questions you may like to ask yourself;  “”who” do I have to be to achieve that goal? What am I capable of?  What does the ‘new me” look like”? How will I feel when I accomplish that dream?

And then you can begin on the inner work to create that inner change.

For me, its the inner person we create who is important… for we will continue to carry her everywhere.

It’s all part of personal transformation.

Whatever path you choose to take, I’m really glad that you are here.

And if you are stuck, message me. All of us can do with a little help from time to time.
